Near Death Experience Festival

The "Near Death Experience Festival" takes place in northern Spain every year. The participants are carried around in their own coffin all through the streets of town by their friends and family members. It is geared to help both parties reflect on that persons life and appreciate that they are indeed still alive and not dead. It draws thousands of people from all over the world for its unique perspective on life and death. 

Design

I designed a poster for this event that is 100% hand cut out paper and scanned into digital files. I wanted this poster to look and feel like construction paper sitting on the wall. I even went through the effort to custom design a handmade looking typeface to go along with this project. I think the color as well as the execution are a direct representation of the Spanish culture, vibrant, colorful, and handmade. What you are seeing is a flamenco dancer and a representation of death to play off of this "dancing with death" idea that the festival embodies.
